Pray for THE BRIDGE this week

1. Continue to pray for the ministry team. Every Sunday I feel like the sermons are more for us than anyone else. I'm sure these sermons can touch anyone, but for the Christian that has been churched for a long time there's so much to reflect about and internalize. Hope and pray that the next step is the Holy Spirit arising in us to respond and to change--and in that we will meet the true and living God all over again.

2. Continue to pray for small groups and its leaders. When you look at the book of Acts, when Christians gather together to pray, worship, and study the word of God at each other's homes big things happen--so big that it impacts the community beyond the church in a positive way.

3. Pray for our community outreach ministry--it's new. It's so new that I'm not sure if that's what it's really called. So the next time I talk about it the name might change. My really close friend Irene has agreed to lead along with a few others. She's meeting with Pastor Thomas for lunch today. Pray for their meeting.

4. Finally, pray for our local community, nation, and the world. Sometimes this is a really abstract prayer, and also seemingly fruitless. How can prayer change the world when evil and suffering seems so pervasive? Let me encourage you. When you pray for the world, you're also praying for yourself, one unit of the entire world. Change begins with you. If we can learn how to love as Christ loves, we will soon recognize that our lives are not our own but for others--this is how we can make an impact. The world needs love. And so our prayers for the world should manifest itself into changed hearts and actions that demonstrate true love.
